How does the system choose the “optimal” warehouse for an order?
Via the OMS (Order Management System), you define business rules: priority to the warehouse closest to the customer, to the one with the most stock, or dedicate a specific stock to a sales channel (e.g. Amazon). The aim is always to maximize the margin.
Can I use my physical stores as e-commerce stock?
Absolutely, this is the principle of the “Ship-from-Store”. Your shops become mini-warehouses. This makes it possible to sell store stock via the web and to deliver to the end customer more quickly (D+1).
Why digitize order preparation?
Paper is a source of errors (product reversal, oversights). The use of scanners (PDAs) forces the validation of each item collected. You go from an error rate of 2-3% to less than 0.1%, which drastically reduces after-sales and return costs.
How to manage stockouts in multi-warehouse?
If the main warehouse is out of stock, the OMS automatically switches the order to a secondary warehouse or a store that has stock (cascade rule). The sale is saved and the customer experience preserved.
